What's "Fruits of the Spirit" and the Bloom Garden?

FaithBloom is anchored in Galatians 5:22-23 — "the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control." Nine themed 7-day reading plans (one per fruit) ship with the app. Completing a plan plants a named fruit in your Bloom Garden, a quiet visual record of what you've grown. The garden also gains sprouts from chapters read, leaves from memorized verses, flowers from any plan completion, and sunbursts from answered prayers. Nothing ever shrinks — there's no streak, no loss aversion, no shame for an empty week.

Why doesn't FaithBloom have NIV / ESV / NLT / RVR 1960?

Those translations are copyrighted by publishers (Biblica, Crossway, Tyndale, Sociedades Bíblicas Unidas) who only license to registered commercial entities. As a single developer, I can't legally bundle them. The six translations FaithBloom ships with — KJV, ASV, WEB, BSB, LEB, and Reina-Valera 1909 — are either fully public domain or permissively licensed, which is why the app can be free and stay free.

Is the app in Spanish?

Yes. Reina-Valera 1909 is bundled as one of the six translations, and on Spanish-language devices FaithBloom opens to RV by default. The most-visible UI elements (tabs, settings sections, daily-verse notification, book names) are translated; deeper screens use English source strings. Full Spanish UI localization is planned for a future update.

Will you add cloud sync between my devices?

No. The whole point of FaithBloom is that nothing leaves your device. If you want cross-device sync, the giants (YouVersion, Bible Gateway) offer it — at the cost of an account, analytics, and a feed. FaithBloom is the alternative.

Will you add a "verses I read this week" social feed?

No. See above.

How does the Prayer Garden work?

From the Journal tab, tap Prayer Garden to add categorized prayers — gratitude, requests, intercession for others, confession. When a prayer is answered, edit it and toggle "Marked answered." A sunburst joins your Bloom Garden. Like everything else in FaithBloom, prayers stay on your device — they are never uploaded or shared.

What about the tip jar? Does it unlock anything?

No. FaithBloom is fully functional and free forever. The tip jar (Coffee / Lunch / Founder in Settings) exists only if you'd like to support a single developer. Tips are processed by Apple's StoreKit — I never see your payment details. A local counter records how many tips you've given, for your own record. The tip jar unlocks zero features and never will.

The audio voice sounds robotic. Can you add a real reader?

FaithBloom uses Apple's built-in text-to-speech because it works for every translation, plays in the background, supports CarPlay, and never requires a download. On iOS 18+, you can pick a Premium or Enhanced voice from Settings that's much more natural. A bundled human-narrated audio Bible would only cover one translation, would add about a gigabyte to the download, and would still need a managed download UX.

How do I report a typo or wrong verse number?

Email me with the reference (e.g. "John 3:16, ASV translation") and the issue. Scripture text is sourced from established public archives, so typos are rare, but if you find one I'll fix it in the next release.

How do I back up my highlights, journal, and Bloom Garden?

Your data lives in the app's local database. Use a standard encrypted iCloud or iTunes device backup — your FaithBloom data is included. If you delete the app, the data is permanently gone (this is also a privacy feature). An export-to-Markdown feature is on the roadmap.

Can I use FaithBloom on my Mac?

FaithBloom is built primarily for iPhone, with an Apple Watch companion. It will run on a Mac with Apple Silicon via "iPad & iPhone apps on Mac" — same code, same data. A dedicated Mac-optimized layout may come later.

Feature requests

Email them. I prioritize features that fit the positioning: contemplative, offline-only, no account, no feed, anchored in Scripture. Features that would require a backend, an account, or social mechanics are not going to ship — but I'm open to anything that makes the reader, study tools, or bloom features better.
