How do I select a word?

Press and hold on the first letter of a word, then drag your finger across the other letters in a straight line — horizontal, vertical, or diagonal, in any of eight directions. Release your finger when you've crossed the whole word. Words can also read backward.

Why didn't my word register?

Quill only accepts straight lines. If your drag wasn't perfectly horizontal, vertical, or 45° diagonal, it won't match. Try again with a steady line across the target letters.

What's a streak?

Completing any puzzle on a given day counts toward your streak. Miss a day and the streak resets to zero the next time you complete a puzzle. Completing more than one puzzle in a day does not break or multiply the streak.

How do hints work?

Tap the lightbulb in the top-left of a puzzle to reveal the first letter of a random unfound word. You get 3 hints per day, resetting at your device's local midnight. A future subscription will unlock unlimited hints.

My progress disappeared — what happened?

Quill stores everything locally on your device. If you deleted and reinstalled the app, or migrated to a new iPhone without using iCloud Backup, the app starts fresh. We don't keep a copy on any server.

Does Quill work offline?

Yes. Quill is fully playable offline. No network connection is required at any time.

Will you add (a feature)?

Probably maybe. Solo developer, limited hours, but every request is read and considered. Tell us what you'd use and how.

How do I restore or cancel a subscription?

When subscriptions launch, they are managed entirely through your Apple ID. To cancel or change a subscription, open Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions on your iPhone, or follow Apple's instructions. Restore a previous purchase from within Quill when the feature is available.

How is my privacy handled?

See the privacy policy. Short version: we collect nothing.

If something crashes or behaves oddly, a quick email with the information from the Contact section above is the fastest way to get it fixed. For reproducible issues, a screen recording (Control Center → screen record) is gold.
